Broken O2 wire

Default Broken O2 wire
Was under my car today and saw a broken wire going to my drivers side O2 sensor (the black wire). It didn't throw a code. Fixed the wire. Car doesn't drive any better but it seemed to run ok before too. Doesn't seem right to me.

Is it the post-Cat sensor and could you have had it tuned out?

Have long tubes. Only use front O2's. Checked FSM and black wire was the ground. Can't understand why it didn't set a code.

Maybe they are tuned out? Could your service engine light be out? (Some people disable them.) Have you checked for codes even though you don't have a light?

Used my obdII scanner and no stored codes. This is a front O2, the rear two are tuned out.

If you can see an actual waveform from the O2, maybe it was getting a satisfactory ground through the exhaust pipe and chassis? (The black wire was just the ground.)
