Electrical/starter problems 4th gen Hey everyone...... After sitting outside for a year, I went to get my car back on the road. Put in a new battery, fresh gas,changed oil/etc. The car started right up and ran fine. After giving it a good wash, when I went to start it, there was a loud click and all the electrical went dead. I disconnected the battery, let it sit an hour and when I hooked the battery back up, same thing. All the electrical started up and when I turned the key, click and everything went dead.
I am wondering......did my starter go bad sitting outside? Anyone else ever experience anything similar? Any help with troubleshooting would be appreciated. The starter is the original, 56k on the car. Any help is MUCH appreciated.

Since you replaced the battery, make sure your battery posts are clean and tight. Also check the battery ground connection to chassis and the positive wire connections on the junction block and starter.
