98 z28 sputtering and dying
98 z28 sputtering and dying The car is sputtering and popping under load, it'll rev fine in neutral but once it is in gear it'll sputter and have a hard time moving. I have hold the pedal to the floor and it'll stay around 2k rpm and sputtering and eventually die. It threw up 2 codes, p0151 and p0131, I went under the car to check the 02's and the rear pass side o2 was loose, tightened it up and it ran fine for a mile or so then went back to not running right. Any ideas?
I've been having sputtering issues for over 2 years, no one was able to figure it out. Car would die every once in a while but it got worse and I changed so many things.
recently it died and refuse to start, few hours later it started and I high-tailed it back home. following morning I decided to bite the bullet and pay money for the dealer to check it out, and it died again.
Anyway, bad crankshaft positioning sensor, located in front of the block.
Dealer prices, over 700 bucks.
I'm picking it up tomorrow and see if it's still sputtering but the dealer said it's running dandy now.
