Didn't meant to make the previous comment. I have changed the PS pump again with a replacement one. This time around with the Turn One Pulley. I lined up the serpentine belt with all the ribs/grooves in the correct spot before tightening the solid tensioner. I started the car to come back and notice that the belt was still in tact, but on the harmonic balancer the belt was off by one rib. I know that I had made sure that I had it lined up in the grooves. But to make sure I did it again, started it up and same thing. You can clearly see that the balancer/crank pulley is sticking out a good 1/8" to 1/4" from where all the other pulleys are. I am nervous to even think about something internal has gone bad causing this to happen, as the motor only has 5k since the rebuild. What would cause the balancer to come out this far? Here are some pictures

Seems as though everything else is lined up except the balancer. Have you checked the torque on it? I know that's a little more involved with an A4 than an M6. You say the motor is rebuilt. Did you do it?
