Default LS1 TB coolant line coupler

It appears I've developed a bit of a coolant leak at the coupler. I've always thought the two hoses with a coupler was a bit of a hack, is there a better solution?

Unless you're driving your car in cold weather, the Throttle Body Coolant Line is completely unnecessary. I would recommend bypassing it.

When I've bypassed the TB Coolant line in the past I simply used a single hose with two clamps. No leaks here.

It's been bypassed for well over a decade, that's why I'm using a coupler. Is there a reliable solution to run a single hose instead of using a coupler? Or is the only solution still the combination of a 5/16" heater hose & a 1/4" heater hose?

Get the combination coupler....thats the proper way to do it. It will last forever. Mine is like 10 years old and still perfect.

I went to PepBoys and looked through their hardware drawers and found a coupler. Bought two smaller worm clamps and that was it. No idea what the part number was. It was a brass piece and each end had ribs so the rubber hose when pushed on was almost impossible to come off. Almost didn't need clamps, but of course I used them.

I suppose the 2 different size hoses with a coupler is the correct way to do this. But, I'd like to point out that the more connections you have, the more chances you have to develope a leak.

A single 5/16" Hose with 2 Clamps has worked fine on the half dozen cars I've done this to.

I'm not trying to convince you either way. Just want to point out my experiences. Good luck.

As long as the clamps are good, anything will work. But two different sized hoses clamped to a pipe thats only one size...is more of a weak point then to have the proper combination pipe with the correct sized hoses and strong clamps. Also, when you buy the combo pipe it has graduated barbs on it...as you push the hose ends on its gets tighter and tighter and clamps are almost not needed. And again....I would always use clamps.....just saying how amazingly tight it gets with the barbed ends.

So I'm still using a 5/16" heater hose connected to one end of this ribbed brass coupler, and a 1/4" hose from the other end of the coupler to the cylinder head nipple, with hose clamps at each junction, correct?

This is the only thing I could find locally, will this be fine for a coupler? Although historically I only run water Water Wetter with distilled water, I've read that glycol makes fuel line brittle, and I also don't know whether the bulk fuel line is rated for coolant temp and pressure.
