2007 Silverado 4x4 issue

2007 Silverado 4x4 issue If I'm in the wrong thread I apologize. I have a 2007 Silverado w/ turn dial 4x4 switch. When I select 4wd high or low it will say "service 4wd" and will light up 4high but doesn't engage. Also when I select 4Lo it will torque the motor down as usual in 4Lo but doesn't engage the front wheels, it still spins the rear tires only. I bought a front axle actuator and switched it out and tried but nothing so I took it back out and put my old one back in. Do new actuators need time to activate or should it be instant if that was the problem? Any thoughts? Thanks
The most common issue, and since you 4wd dial is working, would be the encoder motor on the transfer case.
There are 3 main issues that can cause issues. One is the 4wd **** which usually wont light up when you switch it between 4wd/2wd and so on, next is the front axle motor which you have replaced. Last would be the encoder motor on the transfer case itself.
I would bet it is your encoder motor, they do go bad. I have heard they can go bad when not used often, that may not be true tho.
