I bought an 01 SS a couple months ago. After putting about 1500 miles on it I decided to change the oil because I didn't know when it was last changed. I put 5W 30 Valvoline synthetic in it. There's about 300 miles on the last oil change now. On the 4th of July holiday I decided I was gonna test out what the car could do (It's killing me now because this car is my baby and I hate beating on it) I did one burn out (dropped the clutch at about 4000 rpm's) and also did a few hard accelerations through the gears from a stop. The car didn't skip a beat but after I let it cool down for a few hours I started it up and the "oil change" light stayed on. After about 3 mins it goes off.

What does this mean? Did I burn the oil up or something? Is the computer basing it off the last oil change light reset that was done? When I had the oil changed the light had not come on. I seen earlier in this forum how to reset it and I have not done it yet. Should I try resetting it or should I get the oil changed again?

Any insight would be appreciated.

Yes. You need to reset the oil life monitor after every oil change so the internal counters can start over. If you don't do this, the computer has no other way of knowing or sensing that you have done an oil change.

That just means that the oil change light wasn't reset when you did the change 300 miles ago. It's reacting to the total usage since the last time it was reset. Reset it now and you will be good for the next time (short about 300 miles but that's really nothing).

Come to think of It I haven't seen my change oil light come on in a very long time. I am thinking when I received the 200mph cluster they disabled that? I only put about 1,500 miles a year and do disconnect the battery a lot. Will it be reset by disconnecting the battery?

At only 1,500 miles per year, you could go five years before you might see the oil change warning. It doesn't get reset by disconnecting the battery but it will be unable to take time passed into account.
