Default Tricky ignition switch?

What's up guys! I need some advice here so the car is my 02 Ws6. One day when my car was being repainted my body guy called me and said the ignition just turned, like no spring back. So I went down and figured out that the rod that turns with the key was popped all out so I got a pick and went ahead pushed it and it locked back into place and no issue. So now it did it again but now it's the opposite I got it locked in to where the car will start but it won't shut off. So I went under the column and I noticed that plastic clip is a little off the rod so I put a little pressure on it and it's good. But now I have to get down there with a pick holding pressure on the clip to shut it off. Question for u guys should I just go ahead and try some ca glue on it maybe?! I don't want to go change that whole rod my main question is has anybody had this issue and how did you resolve it. Thanks guys
