Default 2002 firebird 5.7 knock

Put a new starter on yesterday and its developed a knock after? I just broke 89000 miles, oil is only about 2k old and it wasnt knocking or ticking at all when I parked it to change the starter. Got everything put back on and shim the starter too. Now I have a viscious knock on my passenger side.

basically spacers for the starter so its not too close to the flex plate. Everythings right on the starter. It turns over fine but after installing the starter ive developed either a flex plate knock or a rod knock. Hard to tell which atm.

what starter did you get, was it for the 5.7 LS1 or from another model? I don't understand why you would need spacers?
