Need help after getting it back from service
I am thinking there is common connector somewhere, even though one is wired through the steering column and the other is under the dash. Any thoughts? For the hatch release, they probably unhooked the button to take the dash panel off and never plugged the button back in. Just take the panel off, find the wire, and plug back in. (If your hatch still works from the remote, 95% chance this is what your issue is.)
The cruise control is likely the adjustment of the clutch pedal switch. Whenever you get a new M/C, the switch needs to be adjusted to the new position of the pedal. The switch sits in a bracket and rotates to adjust the plunger in and out to the position of the pedal. This switch is probably reading (incorrectly) that your clutch pedal is down, which is why your cruise won't work.
You should be able to take the car back to your shop and give them this information. You might also make the point that they have access to shop procedures for this and didn't read them...
You can also tell them that you saw information on the internet that anyone who misses these things and refuses to double-check them or read the instructions are morons. <- They really are. Presumably, if you are having a master cylinder replaced, these people have experience with manual transmissions. A clutch pedal switch is a common thing... (You might be worried or double check the credentials of this place.)
