Default Unplugged Oxygen sensor

I recently bought a 2006 Hummer H2 SUT.
The check engine light was showing oxygen sensor 2/ bank 2. I took it to my mechanic and he said it was unplugged. He fixed it and the light went off. 1 hour after driving it from the mechanic's the light came back on and was diagnosed as a random misfire. Could unplugging an Oxygen sensor bypass any other codes on the vehicle?

I am not certain, but unplugging the o2's may force the vehicle to run in speed density mode.

^ Yes, it would.

So, the persons who unplugged the O2 sensor previously likely did that on purpose either to:
- Hide an emissions problem causing the misfire
- Address some sort of bad tune
