Default Car keeps turning off.

Hey guys so my car keeps turning off on me, I took to autozone to see if my alternator was bad and they said its good, they car keeps starting but it shuts down after 5 minutes or so. Then I wait a couple of minutes and it starts right back on. Any ideas on what it could cause it to do that. Thanks...

First thing to check would be for loose or corroded cables. Time, heat, and vibration can loosen them up to the point electrical contact is lost.

When this happens, do you see your gauges reset?

It shuts down and everything loses power? no radio, no power windows, no lights? If so then you have a loose battery cable or loose / bad ground. Its probably happening during intervals due to vibrations.

Buy a voltage gauge and run wires for it into the cab. Then start at the battery cables and see if you loose voltage when it dies. If not then move on to other key spots like the lead going to the fuse boxes on the drive side. This can tell you if it's a major high amp thing or a low amp like ignition key or relay.

Just went through this exact same issue. It ended up being a bad ground wire from the PCM to the engine block. Took forever to track it down.

Since you provided no information at all about anything you've looked at or tried all we can do is take shots in the dark. Start with cleaning the throttle body. If it doesn't get better replace the idle air control valve.
