A/C Compressor
A/C Compressor 99 4th Gen LS1 Z28
I don't know what options are out there but I think mine is on its way out.
Shortly after moving to Texas my A/C stopped working. At first I assumed it was possibly just low on refrigerant so I tried to add some but it wouldn't take it. I took it to a shop and found the system was completely OVER filled and the high side pressure was over 1,000 PSI and kicking the safety switch on the compressor preventing it from running, while the low side had barely any pressure. They decided to flush the system for me and when they did nothing but liquid granules of aluminum came out and they found the system was clogged. They at first thought the compressor was done but it still showed strong..so they refilled it with refrigerant and the A/C worked again, probably the strongest since I've had the car... well... about a week later, my compressor is making a loud ticking noise whenever the A/C is on. I can even hear it while on the highway with the windows up. It's still blowing cold but I'm very worried its going to sieze soon.
What manufacture compressor should I go with and also what else do I need to be prepared to replace?

When I bought my 220k miler a few years ago, I had to replace the compressor and a few other parts in the system. I just used parts from O'Reillys and it worked fine. Then I decided to delete the entire hvac system for weight less than a thousand miles later so that was a waste of money.
