Window switch/motor problem
I have a 1994 Z28, auto.
Here recently I had the windows on both sides abruptly stop working then the drivers side started working again shortly after but the passenger side will only go down. I switched in a new motor for the passenger side but the same thing occurs. When held in my hand both the new and old motor will only turn in one direction (same direction) and not the other (with the passenger switch, the drivers side switch is not doing anything for the passenger window now). When the drivers side switch is removed the passenger side motor switch will not work the down function on the motor. This has perplexed me and I am seeing if someone can point me in the right direction so I do not start replacing everything.
If you look at the schematic, ^ you'll see that the system works up/down by reversing polarity. So, if you have a problem with one side of the circuit (inside the switch), things will only work one way at the motor. At a neutral position, the driver's switch just busses power over to the passenger switch.
I'm not familiar with the '94 switch, but if the driver's unit is a single unit for both doors, then it could just be bad. Tracing the switch with a multi-meter will tell you for sure.
