Steering column flexing Hey guys, Im new to the group. Just got my 2002 WS6 a couple weeks ago. So I’ve been reading the forms and I have the steering wheel flexing inch and a half Up and down issue. I’ve already checked the four torx screws and they were tight. I have access to one of the pins and the tilt. How do I check if the pin has enlarged the place that it sits in? . Do I have to remove the pin in order to see? And finally if it’s not the pin enlarging the where it sits, and it’s not the torch screws, What else could be causing my problem? Thank you very much, I appreciate everybody’s help. I’m in central New Jersey by the way.

The pin should be very difficult to get out without the special puller tool. If you can pull it out by hand with a magnet or a bolt threaded into the pin then the hole is bad. In my case I tilted the column to the side and the pin just fell out lol.
Remember too that the up and down is going to have a little slack. The spring tension is what handles the slack and over time the spring cap digs into the column and reduces some of the tension.

You can search on this. To fix mine I installed an oversize pin. That helped a bit. Then I decided I can't stand this... so I put JB Weld on the pin. It has been fine since I did this a couple years ago. I believe I put grease on the pin so it would still tilt. I didn't care if it tilted as long it didn't move anymore.
