2001 ls1 firebird hard to start
I took it into a local shop after replacing the battery. The engine is turning, good fuel pressure, but we aren’t getting spark. The coils are good, but it hard to test because after about 5-10 minutes of troubleshooting the car, it will fire up. No codes and it will run fine after that and will continue to start most of the day with no problem. The shop is thinking it could be the computer, but says they’re back ordered at The local dealership. Any thoughts? Should I try another shop? I’m happy to try to swap a PCM myself if that’s the issue.

It sounds like you are saying the problem is intermittent ?? I would make sure 100% you have a known good battery. Then, I would make sure all your battery connections are clean and tight. I would redo your battery ground and check the battery cables.

Check the simplest possibilities first.
Be sure of all connections, battery, grounds, wiring plug ins, it really sounds like you have a bad one somewhere, maybe that is why it starts after you are looking for the problem for a while.
And yes, if the only solution your shop can suggest is to replace the computer, go to another shop. Or you may replace the computer and find out that wasn't it. Replacing the PCM (computer) is the last resort and unlikely to be the actual problem, look to the simpler first.
