HELP! Used wrong key and steering wheel is locked!

HELP! Used wrong key and steering wheel is locked! Hello. I need help.
I found some extra VATS - style keys a little while ago a wanted to check to see if one or more may be usable spares. T
The first one I tried fit properly and turned in the cylinder, but would not start the car.
The next one either did not work and / or lock the steering wheel and wouldn't turn.
Now, when I try to use the original key, the steering wheel is locked and the key won't turn.
Can somebody please help me with this. Now is not a good time for me to be stranded because my 90 year-old mother is supposed to be coming homer from hospital rehab.
UPDATE. I Jerked the wheel around pretty hard and got it unstuck but the key still won't start the car.
Any help would be much appreciated!!

Thanks for responding. I replied earlier, but somehow things got weird in computer land.
THE SECURITY LIGHT IS NOT ON. Nothing comes on. The only thing that works is the hazard lights and the headlight.
Any help would be appreciated.

So security light is off but the correct key is turning in the cylinder but the car doesn't crank?
If so, does it feel like all the linkages are in place? (Does the turn feel right?)
I would also check your battery - try jumping the car. (If your battery is bad, the car will just wont turn or even click in some circumstances.)
