Default Rear hatch strut supports

Can anyone recommend a rear hatch strut support for the `99 Trans Am? Both of mine are done. That hatch is heavy .... and I've heard that the TA's support is different from the Firebird or Camaro due to the additional weight of the wing.

I have heard this also, the TA struts should fit without a problem.

I picked up some Strong Arm hatch supports from Advanced Auto, they work well on my 98 TA. And yes, the TA's do require different supports. I first picked up some known good ones off a Camaro and they could not support the weight of the TA hatch.

Good info. Thanks. I just ordered a set. That brand was twice as much as the Tuff support brand that I saw on amazon. I prefer actual referrals. Man ... that hatch is heavy!

So if TA supports are 'stronger' than Z28 supports, using them on a Z should have more 'leeway' from failure. Mine have gotten weak, hot weather they're supportive, cold weather not. When I get to replacing them, I'll try the TAs'.

I put them in yesterday. So nice to have that hatch supported ... and no threat of it becoming a guillotine!
