What did I do wrong? 02 Firehawk
Here's the story. Last summer tore down an 02 Camaro SS, kept the LS1/T56/wiring. Was a perfect running powertrain but complete rust-bucket underneath (New England winters plus 20 years = bad undercarriage)
Dumb luck I picked up a '02 Firehawk from a guy at works' son with a blown motor last fall (rod out the side of the block, I have pics).
So spent the winter taking the Firehawk apart and replacing it with the LS1/T56 from the Camaro.
I put in an LS7 clutch kit, Tick master, new slave since there's 68k miles on both motor and trans
I got everything running last week, chased a tiny oil leak (filter wasn't on tight enough) and airbag light (clockspring). Today I put it in gear, still on jacks. When I put it in gear, the gas pedal basically doesn't work. In neutral, I can rev it to the redline no issue. But in gear, the gas pedal does not increase the revs, and it feels like a kind of choppy resistance. It's not like its just dead; it's a weird feeling where sometimes it's dead but sometimes i get resistance. It's drive-by-cable with the weird cruise system right behind the battery.
I can easily shift into any gear, release the clutch, and the motor keeps going. I just can't control the throttle.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks
Jim
The car operated EXACTLY how it was supposed to... no traction, no throttle.
I hooked up the TCS light, shut traction control off, and all of a sudden I could rip through gears and accelerate all i wanted.
For anyone who read this, sorry for the stupidity.
For anyone who reads both of these in the future, maybe it'll help.
