Default Window Scuffing and Door Panel Cracking

Hey all,

The tint on my driver window is scuffed and the panel is cracking right under it. I did the repair on the panel but the crack continues to grow. I just noticed recently that the tint is scuffed right above the crack. The pic isn't very good, but you can see the crack and how the window isn't clear right above it.

Any ideas as to what would cause this? I could move the window stabilizer out, but it seems that would just increase the pressure on the window. Otherwise, the window is aligned perfectly and works flawlessly.

I haven't pulled the door panel yet - just got finished replacing the window motor on the other door - but will soon. Any suggestions as to what to look for would be appreciated.

If the felt stabilizer bar is busted, the metal will scratch the tint. And did you pull out some of the staples in the door panel?

Thanks. Yes I did. So it has been cracking in that location, not in the typical location toward the rear of the panel.

Well I backed off the forward stabilizer and moved up the rearward one. The window pane still feels loose at the rear compared to the passenger side one.

But when I pushed the rear stabilizer out to where it kept the window firm, the window didn't fully roll up in the front. So I adjusted it to where all was good. But as I said, the window still feels loose in the rear. Regulator problem?

You might check for this issue developing: https://ls1tech.com/forums/general-m...dow-guide.html

The proceedure is non-intuitive and I created more problems than I solved when I moved my stabilizers. shbox has a great guide to setting these right. (It's not intuitive.) http://shbox.com/1/adj_window.html

I've seen members scratching tint when they got a stone or other abrasive caught in the stabilizer. You might take a look at them and comb the felt to make sure yours are clean.
