98 camaro window motor
98 camaro window motor Is there a way to test the window motor on a 98 camaro with a multimeter to see if it works correctly or test for a bad switch? certain electronics reads amps or ohms to confirm they're not damaged. I replaced one on my 95 z28 but they have that spring that will fall off and have to drill rivet rebolt the new motor. Really was a pain in the *** took couple hours i think i dont remember was back in 2008 when i had changed it.

put 12volts+ to one of the terminals on the motor and touch the negative(ground) to the other terminal on the motor. If the motor is good it will run. Reverse the wires on the terminals and the motor will run the other way.
No. You can only test it with a load on it.
The motors have a thermal cutoff switch, which is a common failure point. When the motor is under load these switches can prematurely switch off and the motor will "not work." In this situation, the motor will look fine if you take it out of the door and put power to it.
IMO - If you are going to the trouble to take the thing out, you might as well put a new motor in while you are there. Be sure to follow the shbox instructions and procedure to make this easy!!!

OP you place MM before an after switch. I've replace 3 driv. 1 pass.motors in 22 years. get a advance auto motor take image of receipt so next motor will be free.
