Looking for advice on how to get this sucker out. My handheld corded drill didn't even put a mark in it. Went to a local machine shop and they said they couldn't help. There's got to be some tool or machine out there that can drill this out.
Went to a handful of places around where I live, no one was able or willing to help. The place that gave it a shot said they used a $600 drill bit but even that barely put a mark on the broken bolt. I ended up ordering a re-leathered steering wheel from Hawks Motorsports.
I can't even count how many times this has happened to me. I got the bolt out every time.
I would try tapping a center punch in there lightly to free it up from any threads it might have deformed in the steering wheel. Usually when I take a drill bit to these, the whole bolt spins right out - before I can ever get a screw extractor in there.
You might also try a self-tapping screw. That should put more friction on it than a drill bit and might spin it out easier.
