My low coolant light was on constantly after 5 mins of driving but coolant level was always full. This is what the sensor looked like. I believe this is due to dexcool. I am currently doing a drain+refill with universal prestone every week until all orange is removed.
These sensors do fail, often gummed up with old coolant. Dexcool itself is not the problem, it's only an issue if the system is not properly maintained.
