replace steering column...does it matter from what year?

replace steering column...does it matter from what year? my wifes 99 ws6 has the dreaded sterring wheel wobble. Tried the over sized pins and that got rid of some it but not all. If it was just a cruiser I wouldn't care but it's a track car so I think its going to be "easier" to replace the whole column with a rebuilt 1.
That being said, do I need a column from a 99 ws6 or can any from a '99 car do? or can any 98-02 work?
It's an automatic car so I'd prefer to find a rebuilt one from an automatic. I know I'll have to swap ignitions *or do the resistor mod* but anything else I need?
