what the heck does this resistor do??? **pics in post**
Messing around with my wifes 99 ws6 A4 and I noticed this random loose wire connection by the driver side brake booster / firewall. It has a round connector and there is a resistor just sticking out of it. Car has been driving fine, just glad I didn't hose down the engine bay.
1st pic is the resistor itself. Looks like it was soldered on.
2nd pic shows the wiring harness it connects to going into the firewall.
3rd pic is where I found it.
If I stretch the wire out, it doesn't go to anything by the brake booster. There is enough room to where if there was a sensor on the back half of the driver side of the engine. And that sensor had 6-10 inches of wiring with it, it could reach this one.
That being said, I just took the intake off recently and the oil pressure sensor and all the other connectors back behind the uptake all have its marching connector.
No check engine lights are on. I do know the light works cause I forgot to plug in the maf and iac and it popped on pretty quick.
Took 2 more pics. the connector says PED 46 AB looks like either a brown and white, tan and white or orange and white wire. Cleaned it up and thats the best I got.
Someone did that to try to spoof the proper sensor. You can confirm by the wire colors but first, just unplug the connector and see what lights up on your dash.
