Does heat reflective tape actually work or is it just snake oil?? There's many different brands out there but I'm sure it's all made by the same company and rebranded as their own.
So this tape has come up a few times in the last couple days and I've watched a couple YouTube videos on it where a guy actually took a datalog of before and after. His IAT sensor was in the intake manifold and when he played those logs back his IAT dropped like 30*!!
To me that seems wildly unrealistic to get that much of a temp drop from some tape on the intake piping. But I guess I might as well ask does it work?? Anybody here use the stuff on their intercooler piping or even the air box and intake pipe for their NA cars??
To the people who have used the stuff, did you manage to get any before and after data to see actual changes??
Any mods that see this, if it's in the wrong spot just go ahead and move it where it should be. Thanks

If you can calculate the CFM that your engine is breathing in, you'd probably end up finding that the air flow through the cold air intake and manifold is so fast that the air doesn't have a chance to absorb the heat.

Well I got the tape and it's on my piping that sees radiant heat. Basically the two pipes that are close to the radiator. The weather sucks right meow but I'm hoping to get it out soon. I kinda wish I thought about taking the car out without the tape and getting a good datalog so I've got something to do a comparison too but didn't really think about it until afterwards. What you see there is basically an entire 1.5" x 30' roll for those two pipes
