Default 2003 Silverado 1500hd 6.0 lifter issue

Got a 2003 Silverado 1500HD 6.0. I just did new lifters, oil pump, and pickup tube with a new O-ring. Truck runs solid but it’s still got a constant ticking sound — sounds just like a lifter tick that never went away.

Oil pressure looks fine on the gauge but I haven’t checked it with a mechanical one yet. Tick doesn’t go away hot or cold, it’s just always there.

I also have 3 broken exhaust bolts on the passenger side and the driver side header gasket is missing that double-sided metal piece, so I’m wondering if that could be what I’m hearing instead of an actual lifter.

Anybody run into this before? Could I have messed up something with the oil pump install or pickup tube, or y’all think it’s just exhaust leaks making noise?

really should fix the exhaust leaks. That way you are more likely to be able to discern any abnormal engine noises.
