Default Newbie Here, having some LT1 trouble

Pulled the distributor off an Lt1 engine to replace the crankseal and the distributor shaft seal. Upon the reinstallation the car runs like the timing is overadvanced, pings under light throttle, slow crank during hot start. Is there a relearn procedure for the computer to correct this? Is it possible the disributor shaft is off a spline or 2? It looked like the spline could only be put on 1 way. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks.

Also, Cap/Rotor/Wires and Water pump were replaced at the same time. All GM parts.

Did the opti force on or did it fit into place?? Sounds like it might not be lined up right? or double check your wires? The opti should only go on one way, but i have heard of people forcing them on and it being off. Good luck.

The shaft slipped on without a problem, thats why I'm confused . Wonderin if the optispark took a dump cause I do remember some coolant getting down there when I bled the cooling system. How about a relearn procedure? the bat was disconnected for a period of time while the work was performed. thanks for the reply and the help, I will double check the wires too.

no relearn procedure needed. definetly check the wires and the plugs. the opti should onlygo on one way , but it doesnt take much to put it on wrong either. if your wires check out i would consider pulling the opti again and reinstalling it again. and for future reference after doing and opti install put the balancer back on and go ahead and crank the car long enough to make sure its running right

I would recommend replacing the ignition coil and module as well when ever you're replacing the Opti. Did you remove the splined dowel that drives the distributor? If the shaft is spun around backwards it will still drive the distributor, but will allow oil to seep past the timing cover seal and ruin the optispark. I know from experience
