Airbag Light/Gauge Cluster problems I took my '99 Firebird into a non-dealer mechanic to have the fuel gauge fixed as it was not reading accurately. They had already replaced the sending unit back in 2/04 and this time they told me it was the gauge cluster. That has been replaced once also, years ago. They sent the cluster off to be refurbished and recalibrated to another company and when it came back the fuel gauge was still not reading correctly and now the airbag light was on. I took it back to them and they said they sent the part back again to have it refurb/recalib again. The gauge was still not reading right. They told me they reset the airbag light. They referred me to a dealership to determine the actual cause of the gauge misreading, thinking it may be something else. (The situation was much worse then it sounds... quite the screaming match between the shop owner and me). So I took it to the dealer, upon their suggestion, to have the dealer inform me that it was both the gauge cluster and the sending unit in the tank. At this point I am livid. BUT GET THIS - They also told me that the airbag light was reading as being ON, but was not lit up and suggested that my repair shop may have removed the bulb. What else could cause a light to read as being "on" in a test and it to not show on the panel? And it doesn't show on the panel, not even when I start the car and the whole panel lights up. There is one light missing - the airbag light. My question is, if the light is stuck on and/or the bulb has been removed (either way) - will my airbags function properly and deploy in an accident? Or has my safety been jeopardized? Someone, anyone who knows - please tell me soon. I don't understand enough about the mechanics and workings of the airbag system. And if my safety is at risk, then I need to get an attorney.

Well when you turn on the ignition all your gauges/warning lights are suppose to illuminate. If your airbag warning light doesn't come on it could be maybe the bulb went bad 
or somebody removed the bulb 
or somebody removed the bulb
