Default HELP fellow LT1'ers!!!

Earlier I was driving and my SES light came on, and my reverse (M6) is locked out. Sometimes the car idles funny, and @ 5000 rpm it stutters. Has brand new o2 sensors. . . .. Found out that its popping a fuse under the hood inside the relay box. the fuse says "ENGINE SENSOR" fuse. WTF is engine sensor fuse?????? what runs off of it???? Anyhelp would be appreciated.... THANKS

Go luck with all the grounds....had a honda pilot in the shop the other day and all the guage lights would turn on and off, speedo and tach would turn off and on, cooling fans wouldnt turn on, everytime ac compressor would turn on power would fluctuate....turns out it was a bad ground......kind off obvious because all the things going wrong....vehicle was wrecked from the front pretty bad so where the grounds made contact there was paint on the surface not letting it ground properly....so off to sanding i went

just to let you know i did about 4-5 grounds that are in between the front bumper and front wheels .....there were more but they where on the engine so i had to make sure that they where grounding properly too

look on the core support and right behind the battery. there are grounds there. go ahead and just find them and start cleaning. i wouldnt pass over all them just to find the pcm and knock sensor grounds. id just make sure i found those as well. also make sure the eninge ground is good. it should be on the drivers side cylinder head. i think the front or back. im getting my cars confused a little right now so you should be looking for a bare braided metal strap

oh disconnect the battery before you start pulling grounds and check to see how tight a particular ground is before you pull it off.

I believe the grounds you want to doublecheck are 1: on the motor mount passenger side and 2: on a stud on the oil pan

Yeah, the ground for the knock sensor is the engine block. The sensor screws into the block, and it is grounded through the body of the sensor. That would not be your problem.

It sounds like you have a short somewhere, that is the only reason why you would be blowing fuses. If it was just a bad ground, you wouldn't be blowing the fuse.

I would say find out exactly what circuit that fuse is in and start troubleshooting. Something in that circuit is shorted to ground. Wether it is a bad sensor that is grounded internally, all the way down to a hot wire that is chafed and rubbing on metal, causing a short. It could be anywhere in the circuit. I would start with the sensors, check them out, and if it's not that, start tracing wires. I hate electrical stuff for this exact reason, it's hard to pinpoint exactly what it is. Good luck!!

PS: I would recommend getting a factory service manual for your car (not a Chiltons or Haynes), they have wiring diagrams and almost everything you would need to fix anything on your car. You can often pick them up off of Ebay.

Typically on OBD2 cars the Reverse lockout fuse link and the Mass Air are tied together, more than likely its just a fuse. If you hook it up to a scanner it should through a PO102. Not positive though. Your Idle problem is more than likely because you are in open loop and running off your MAP and not your MAF. Its apperant you have a short somewhere. Hope you find it!

I would start by disconnecting the reverse lockout solenoid. Its possible that could be bad. Insert a new fuse and see if it still blows!
