Default Grime on inner oilcap

I was checking my oil today, and there was an orange/red grime on the center of the cap, i checked the dipstick and they oil still looks good, any idea's on what this is and waht i'd need to do?

It could be condensation. Do you drive the car for short distances, not allowing it to fully warm up?

it's called coking. It's what happens when oil gets hot (to the point that a very little bit evaporates) and then it settles and dries and leaves the deposits.

It's not a big deal. To be good to your motor, make sure you idle for a couple of minutes after really hard driving (track or racing. High-rev stuff) to let it cool down a bit before you shut it down. Other than that you're fine

Probably condensation. Lately I had a great deal on condensation build up due to numerous short trips, new work is 2.5 miles away vs 20miles old. I reflashed my pcm so the fans won't come on untill 200* and let it idle about 30 mins while I washed it and that did the trick. Oil looks better and the cap has been bone dry since.

Edit: I always warm it up in the morning for a few mins too.

Mine has this to. I just wipe it out every oil change while the oil is draining.

Strange that I never remember hearing about this, but It makes damn good sense.

I usually drive short distances, i live a mile from school, and about 3 miles from work, i just wiped it off but i didnt know if it was a big deal, thanks for the help
