I was trying to get my car running again after a lengthy water pump drive seal and injector change and fired the car up. Of course the gas I had in the tank was old (but with Stabil) so it was little rough and I tried to burn all that up. After getting fresh in, it was still a little rough and had a couple misses in the powerband (but I didn't drive it yet) so I started looking around and discovered I had the #1 and #3 injector harnesses switched around (I swapped injectors in the dark one night). So I switched those and revved the engine to 5200 while it was parked. No misses! So I took it down the road and it still drove like ****, but it wasn't really missing. It backfired a little but it was mostly that everything was "wavy." I was chugging along when I stomped the gas, not popping and missing. I ran out of time to fool with it and now I'm back at school. I was wondering what exactly might have happened so I can have some hope for the weekend.

My theory was that because the injectors were firing at different times the plugs were, that I killed the plugs. I pulled the #3 and #5 to compare and they looked the same but my dad says a dead plug won't really show anything. And the "waves" were coming from the unburnt fuel flowing to those 2 cylinders. My O2's were detecting a richer mixture while driving but a leaner while parked. My dad also thought perhaps that with no load, the plugs were producing enough spark to keep a smooth powerband but not so under load. What do you all think?
