Water Pump Dead? or Gauge?

Hey guys,

I recently installed a mechanical water temperature gauge on my LT1 and was having a lot of trouble keeping the car cool, i thought it was air pockets so i read up on them and eliminated that problem, today the car was running perfectly for about an hour and then all of a sudden the gauge went to like 220 then shot to 245 back to 200, could the gauge be busted already? the cable is not touching the exhaust or anything i cant fgure this out?

Check the bleeder valve with the motor on, should be pressurized if the pump is working.

if you are talking about the 2 bleeder screws then yes, it shoots out i am truly stumpted on this one... just had the radiator boiled out.
