They just claim its better. Kind-of like buying a John Deere lawn mower and buying a Snapper. Just buying a name, but dont get me wrong it is a good filter, but you dont need it. You can run any filter if you are changing your oil every 3K. If you are going over 3K, then I would look into getting a better filter.

Well, the fram is simply a small roll of toilet paper stuffed into a tin can and spray painted orange. Don't buy any orange filters, or oil from a yellow container. Period.

The Mobil 1 is a good filter (I have one on right now ), but if you change your oil frequently, go with a Purolator, Bosch, Wix, STP, or even A/C Delco.

If you go longer than 3k (and have money), buy a Mobil 1, K&N, Amsoil, or Purolator pure 1. Then you'll be in good shape

many good filters out there, most people preffer:
wix, purolator pureONE, ac delco, and mobil 1 brand.

just go with what is available. all will give such similar results if changed regularly (3k)

Usually comes down to type of filtering media, as well as the "name brand" factor as well. If you want to buy a cheap filter, I think the best one for the money is the Wal-Mart Supertech. Can't be beat for $1.97.

Middle cost, NAPA Gold and the equivalents are pretty damn good.

Higher end filter, I'd go with Amsoil or K&N. I have the Amsoil one in my car, and it is one of the best compromises between filtration and flow according to bobistheoilguy.com, which is one of the best sites for oil info. K&N is one of the best flowing, Mobil 1 has good filtration, but is actually very restrictive with flow.
