Mixing oils?
Mixing oils? My car has a minor oil leak from a cam swap (it bumped the rear main and now that seal is leaking some) i'll be getting a converter in a month or 2 so i dont see a point to pay 250+ to drop the tranny and fix the seal if i can just pay an extra 50 during the converter swap, the car right now runs mobil 1 5w30, i did an oil change on my dads car awhile ago, and his is mobil 1 0w40, and i have a few quarts left, would it be bad to top off mine w/his as it leaks out, or just to get the 5w30, i dont know anything really about oil so im just wondering, thanks for the help
Well if only a month or 2, I wouldn't bother mixing the oils (my oown preferance is not to mix them, but it probably won't hurt anything) Get the 5w30, and any left over you can use to prime the oil filter on your next oil change
