I started it up this morning and it idled fine then started back up at break then after school started it up once again but this time it idled at 400 then up to 6. so i run a quick aron and start my car(same shity idle) then all of a sudden my radio begines to ruen on and of then i look at my dash an all the lights are flickering. so i pass on the mcdonalds get home and try and start it again but this time NO START. not even a click. no radio, only thing that moves is the oil gauge. I dont know what to do.. or where to start??? somebody please help!!! |
Uh, I'm not too sure about the idle problem. But maybe the reason it's not cranking at all is the batt? Did you check to see if theres' still juice in it? Turn on the lights, if it goes on then your batt is still good. If not, try checking the contacts, the side posts tend to suck ass cuase of leaks(clean them) also, jump the delco batt. I had something simliar when my car did nothing after I placed the key. Tell me what happens, and if you figure whats wrong with your idle |
Sounds like a bad alternator. It's an easy 30 minute fix if you have ramps. I just did mine in february. |
Sounds like Battery/Alt. problem. |
I had the same exact problem turned out to be a leaky battery |
took my battery down to autozone turns out it was bad.put the new one in and it didnt idle right for about 2 seconds then jumped up to idle and was ok. The guy there said the reason for the wierd idle when i start it is probably because of the bad battery.but thanks everyone for ur help. |
I had the same problem. It was a low battery, tried starting, cranked over with a tought ime and the RPM's would jump ans stay there. Good Luck |
Not enough power to the sensors. Mine just got finished doing it. It was a bad alternator. |
I had a similar problem w/ my car. I ran into a parts store then ran right back out, and when i tried to start my car nothing happened. No radio, no clicking, nada. Turns out i blew a fuse in my dash, replaced it and no more problems. Check your fuses by your door. |
I recommend checking your battery wires as far as you can see. I over-tightened my battery terminal and broke it loose without knowing. Battery acid ran down my wires and ate them up. I had the battery changed and also the alternator and it kept running my battery down. I got fed up and started simple with the wires one day. Alternator wasn't charging my battery back up. Replaced the wires and didn't have a problem after that. |
yeh when ur battery is really low..and almost...out..our cars tend..to run like race cars...lol...when mine did that same thing when the alternater..went..i would put my car in reverse wit the brake nearly fully down and the back tires when spin out leaving my driveway..then when i put it in drive itd just spin out..wit out me on the gas and it idled faster than shit... yeh battery does that. |
