Default Electrical gremlins

Now what?

1. Turn on the flasher and only the rears flash not the fronts.
Front bulbs work.
2. Set alarm head lamps go up then down and one motor hums then
quits.
3. Turn on the running lights and the head lamps come up but not on.
they never used to come up with the running lights on.

This just started anyone have any ideas wtf is going on?
I'm a nut turner not a sparky. Need help.

had simular trouble in my lt1 long time ago...(minus the lights popping up)
still turned out to be a bad turn signal bulb up front even though the parking lights worked just fine....
it was strange but hey thats gm right?

hmmmm you know maybe we should start a "unusual electric trouble" sticky... after someone fixes one, they add the trouble and solution to the list....

mods? howbout it?

Well i've got two if you need them.

1. Car ran like crap, I had a Maf code. Ended up being a short in a wire near the engine/transmission connection. Cause was wire loom wasn't put back on when (I assume) the clutch was installed. A metal clip rubbed throught the wire and kept blowing the fuse.

2. Battery drained over night. Got new battery, got new alternator. Still was draining. I disconected the line lock and now there is no more draw from the battery. So, it was either wired wrong or somehow was still getting power when the car was off.

OK, I replaced the front turn signal bulbs even though they appear to light up and now the will blink. Problem 1 solved.

The head lights still come up when the driving lights are on and one of the motors keeps running for about 10 seconds.

They never used to come up like that. What the hell could make them do that. One night last week at the track when I turned the lights ON the one didn't come up. I get out and what do you do but "tap" the lid and "boing"
it opens. So I shut off the engine with the lamps "open" to load up and then drive home. Ever since that night the danm things have been frucked up. My car is falling apart.

Sounds like your light gears are stripped. Someone makes brass ones and there is a write up on how to do it. The stock ones are made of plastic and this is a common problem.

The headlights are definately stripped gears, had that problem a little while ago. There is a free fix that will work most of the time, search around, but its pretty easy and almost impossible to mess up. Some people say its temporary, but should hold up for a good while. #3 might be related to this, or a bad ground, i'm not sure bout that one. #1, double check your bulb's connections and go to the autoparts store and buy a can of electrical QD cleaner.
