I just replaced mine about a month ago. I went up to autozone and got one for $50 that came with a lifetime warranty. Im not sure about the quality of the ones you find on ebay. The install was a breeze and only took about an hour of my time. There is a write up on here with pictures and instructions. do a search and you should be able to find it.

Bingo, go to AutoZone and get the motor, it is REALLY easy once you start. If you need help email me I have done it before, it goes much easier with a Dremel or similar tool. Don't pay a dealership 300$ to do this, it takes all of 30mins to and hour. And BTW, the symtoms you described, it is the window motor. Mine did exactly the same thing.

Reason it stops and works again after a little while is because the motor is overheating. Mine did that for almost a year before it finally went out completely.

Another Autozone buyer here, however in my neck of the woods I paid $70 although everyone online said you could find them for $50. Took me a few hours to install and you do need a drill, the factory one is riveted into place.

I bought mine from O'Reilly, cost was around $65. An hour of my time and I was good to go.

Are the autozone motors the same weak motor that gm uses? Does anyone know of a more powerful motor that won't need replacing so often?

I have the same question.... do the aftermarket window motors make the window raise and lower quicker? My old 1991 Cougar had larger windows and would make it from bottom to top in about 2.5 seconds.

Currently, I can only raise one window at a time or else they move sooooo slooooow.

Never timed it, but some people have said they are faster than stock. Also a good lube will help speed it up too.

I got mine at a junk yard two years ago and it has worked great ever since. I paid $20. If you know exactly what your doing, its pretty simple. If you've never done it before, it can be a pain in the but. You have to drill out rivets and bolt it back in place. Watch out for the spring load peice. It really hurts when you get hit by that thing... Not that I would know from experience.

Default window motor

is there a better motor than stock?

yes the siemens one that is available at autozone. its more expensive but its better than the ac delco one.

Is it faster?

no, not really. maybe a little, but its certainly faster than the broken one that was on my car before

And to the guy with the popping window..

mine does the same thing, its a messed up regulator. i quieted mine a bit by greasing up the spring with some white lithium grease, but i really dont feel like replacing the whole regulator yet.

I was looking at my friends 97 bonneville SSEi door with tthe door panel off. That has to be the easiest install ever. It is right behind the interior door panel, when you take the panel off there are no rivets just three bolts and you have full access to the motor, it isn behind any metal or anything, in plain view. Why couldn't GM do all the cars like that.
