Default Squeek in the morning

So usually when I start my car in the morning sometimes when there is dew on the ground, I hear a sweek coming from the engine. I'm enclined to think it's one of the pulleys. It doesn't sound like the pitch changed with the RPM of the car, as the car warms up and what not the sound goes away.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Could be a pulley, or it could also be just a simple belt going bad. My Bonneville was doing this, only when damp out like yours. It turned out to be just the belt.

It's not all that bad, goes away after a few blocks.

ok well i know what all your problems are with the pulley, its the drive belt idler pulley the bearing if prolly bad and just replace that pulley and get new belts and no more problems.

Wow, I don't feel so alone anymore! Z28LS1camaroguy - if I remember correctly there are 2 idler pulleys. One of which I think I have replaced. Am I correct in saying that there is one for the A/C belt too?

yeah but its most likely the drive belt idler pulley not the ac pulley, the drive belt pulley goes out faster for some reason. but i just replaced mine and no more sqeek even after hard rain and moisture.

I got the same damn problem. Thought it might be just a belt or tensioner pulley. Now I know. It hasnt hurt anything just gets annoying & makes it sound like a piece when its first started.

Same problem...but for some reason it's normal on our cars....In high heat or dew.....Something with the belts....But it doesn't wear at them or hurt them....just normal annoying sound just grease em up a bit

Add another to the list, only mine's been doing for the past 2 days & driving me mad.. Problem was the ac belt itself... A simple dab of silicone lube fixed it in a matter of seconds.
