Default 01 Camaro SS overheating

hey yall im new to this forum. i was referred here by a buddy who says u guys have all the know how. anywho as stated above i have a 2k1 camaro ss. today it started overheating. it only runs hot at standstill. when i start driving it cools off. does anyone have any suggestions as to what might be the problem? my buddy thinks it might be the water pump or that the radiator might be cloggged.

Default Overheating....

Hey the cooling fans arent coming on or you are low on water. if the thing starts to run warm turn the a/c on (automatically turns on fans for a/c condenser)and see if the temp comes down any. If it does then go to the engine copartment and see if the fans are running. I'm not comepletely sure if the car has one fan or duals. If the fans are running at least you know they work and can move to seeing if theres a problem elsewhere like defective coolant sensor or if there is air in the system(low coolant)then the sensor will not register correctly and not turn on the fans....good luck.

well im a little embarrassed to say it but was stumped so the car went to chevy on friday. inital prognosis is new water pump, belts, and hoses to the tune of (minus what the extended "warranty" is paying) just north of 500 dollars but i guess thats what i get for giving up so quickly oh well. i really do appreciate ur help tho thanx alot.
