Bit of an electrical problem... Help!
Started, when I was out on a cruise on a hot *** day. Coming home from the cruise I decided to run my A/C. As I got into stop and go traffic I glanced at my gauges (as I do often) noticed my voltage gauge was bouncing all over the place, then it began to dip really low (into the low yellow). My car soon began to run rough so I pulled over, popped the hood, and checked things over. I immediately noticed that I had battery acid all around the battery and surrounding area. I began to flush the area clean with water, but it was to late for my paint...ERRR!!! I had just installed a new optima dry cell battery days earlier, so I was like WTF!
Anywho I pulled the SOB out took it back to Pep Boys and exchanged it for a new one. Slapped the new one in, chilled for a while and let things cool down, then proceeded to be on my way. I did not make it far before the same problem popped back up;however I was kinda far from home and said **** it and kept on truckin. The next morning I traded in the optima for a wet cell, along with a new alternator.

My voltage gauge sometimes dips low into the yellow but only a hot day. On a cool day or at night the gauge may bouce, but will not dip low. I assume that the heat soak of the engine bay is a contributing factor. Problem is I don't know what the real problem is.
any ideas guys? Sorry for the long post.
