Default Just killed My compressor

Well i just killed my used A/C compressor. Had it in for around a month, i knew i should have just got a rebuilt one. Good news is that one of the seals blew so all that really happened was the compressor leaked out completely of oil and refrigerant, hopefully wont need the system flushed out.

All i really did was revved it up, well i was taking off rather fast and i heard a woosh, left a trail of refrigerant all the way down the street. I looked under the car and the whole area around the compressor is wet and the compressor has green **** dripping from it. Definitely thew oil. I'm gonna jack it up to see if it isnt just a loose fitting, but i doubt it.

Here's a list of stuff to check for leaks, fwiw

"Inspect the refrigerant pressure sensor.
Inspect the service valves.
Inspect the lines.
Inspect the evaporator inlet/outlet.
Inspect the accumulator dryer inlet/outlet connections.
Inspect the compressor rear head.
Inspect the housing joints.

Inspect the O-rings for damage, dirt or lack of lubrication.

The primary seal for the service ports is the sealing cap. The cap contains a specially designed O-ring or gasket which provides a leak free seal. Should the cap be loose, missing, or the wrong usage, a loss of refrigerant could result."

I cant find any other word to describe it, but the compressor threw a rod. There was a rod sticking straight out the bottom of the compressor, it got pushed back in, but it looks like someone shot a .22 bullet through the compressor, from the inside. crazy, i'll post pics tomorrow if anyone wants to see.

I wonder if the compressor didn't kick off at WOT like it was supposed to.

Personally, I think it would be smart money to get a flush when you replace your compressor and accumulator, and at least clean out your orifice tube.

i replaced the orifice tube, but i think i might have caught it early enough because the orifice tube was pretty clean compared to the time my other compressor died. But that was making noise and everything. This had just happened and just started leaking when i shut it off and inspected it.

transam1998: You know, it happened at WOT. I heard this could be fixed in tuning but everybody i know that tunes doesnt know anything about it.
