Service Interval Question

Service Interval Question Hey all, I looked around and I took in the miriad of "answers" to these questions...and was left without a real answer...so here I post:
I've got a '00 Z28 with ~63K on it, bought it with around 62K, when the oil was supposedly changed by the dealer (what's the recommended interval?) My uncle had done a tranny fluid flush/exchange to it at his friend's garage. I've got new brakes (needs new discs tho - any recommendation?) and I just started to wonder about the spark plugs. I have no idea if they had ever been changed and I dont know how often they should be changed. The stock plugs are spec'd for 100K but that just sounds silly... My dad and I were looking at the engine compartment and noticed how little room there is to work with on the passanger side - how do you guys generally replace them?
If it impacts your responses any, this car is for my general use and I generally dont drive it hard (it's my baby afterall
) - only for having fun with my friends and commuting to and from college (about 15 minutes on the highway each way.) So yea, she's my baby, she was taken real good care of before me - or at least so the beautiful appearance and clean engine bay seems to say, and I want to keep her like this. Any other tidbit that I might like to know about maintenance would be appreciated, thanx.

The owners manual states 100 thousand for oils and fluids, BUT when I changed out my plugs at 43,000 miles, they were crispy. The original plugs were some kamakazi type that I've never heard of and didn't know GM was using.
I had noticed oil consumption(just a little) and changed over to Royal Purple Race 21 and haven't had any problems since.
If you do your research right here on this board, you will find just about all the answers that you are looking for. Most of the questions have already been asked and replied to in different forums. There is a lot of good info on this board and always someone to help you out.
