Headlight noise when closing?

Yes, There is an internet site out there that details it, you can probably find it off of yahoo. "broken F-body headlight gear" should do it. Basically, you take apart the assembly, and rotate the gear 180* and it uses the good half (the one not worn to nubbins). and solves your 5-10 seconds of "bzzzwhackwhackwhackwhackbzzz".

On my car, I had squeaking / grinding noises. I just used marine grease on the hinges and gears after checking to make sure there wasn't any wear. It seems like I have to do this about every two years. I am in year 8 and haven't had to replace a gear yet. Hopefully, keeping the gear lubed, tight and checked will allow me to go for a few more year before I do the metal gear mod. I also try not to put the headlights up under speeds over 15mph. That way I don't add extra stresses of the wind while they are flipping up.
