i dont know about you but i have a 98 formul and the crappy dipstick thing they give you to check the fluid seems pretty unclear to me, if u check it hot there could still be coolant on dipstick from when it was cold, if its says its low, put some more in and see if it goes away

Down below the cap you have a sensor (square looking I think) Take off the clip that holds it on and try and clean it. Sometimes that helps. But, if not, just get a new one and it should be good. Mine is on as well, I am just to lazy to mess with it. I just check the level from time to time..

A lot of people just unplug the sensor. Common fix for a far too common problem.

had the same problem after the cam swap.. Talked to Sean at Fastech about it and he was saying that alot of it has to do with the sensor, the Dexcool starts to get like corrosion or tacky and it makes the floater in the sensor stick... Clean it off real good or replace it and make sure that your coolant levels are good in the radiator and the over flow tank..

I had the same problem. I didn't figure out what was happening til the problem got real bad. Turns out that my power steering cooler (metal pipe in the upper radiator hose on my 98) was leaking power steering fluid into the cooling system. I know it sounds crazy. A cooling system pressure test confirmed with air bubbles in the power steering resevoir. The contaminated coolant caused the radiator sensor to give a false low indication. Right before I figured it out I was losing power steering fluid like crazy, making turning harder, with no sign of where it was going. Once I replaced the coolantpipe/power steering cooler both problems were solved. Who would have guessed that power steering fluid would find its way into the cooling system?

btw - removing the radiator sensor and cleaning it made it reuseable.

wont necessarily be just the sensor, if the cap isnt holding the correct 15lbs of pressure it will give a low coolant light too. . dealership thought I had a blown head gasket and decided to put a new cap on and voila, all good to go.
