Default New wierd Window problems

My Passenger side power window will just barely move at times going up, and I have to help it up more times than not when the door is closed... If the door is open the window zips right up... I've also noticed lately that it tends to leak pretty good at times on the passenger side going in the car wash...

My car use to leak a little when I first got it, but the SLP SFC's took care of that one...

If it were the window motor going bad would it make a difference having the door closed or open? The driver side does'nt leak, but if the window is down, and I close the door it sounds like EVERYTHING is rattling arround inside ???

Sounds like the motor is good if it zips up with the door open. There is something wrong with your wiring, though. It may be difficult to troubleshoot this. Your wires that feed the door may be getting kinked with the door closed and your getting a resistive connection to your load or a resistive short to ground. There is a rubber conduit that goes from your door to the frame. See if you can take that off and inspect the wires. Maybe you'll be able to splice a wire back together (that would be an easy fix). Hopefully you won't have to completely replace the wires. Most likely, you'll find that the insulation is worn on one or more of your wires and, if its not too bad, you might be able to tape it up real good.

As for the rattling in the driver door. I had the same thing happen to mine. Are you seeing scratches in the window? There are two guides at the top of your door (behind the interior door panel) that guide your window up and down. They are small metal pieces with a felt pad on the window side. I had a real hard time finding them but a junk yard is a great source. Here's where I got mine.

I don't remember exactly but I think he sold me 4 or six of them for less than $20 (including shipping). Let us know how you make out.

ya i would say check the wiring out
the wiring in both of my doors were frayed and crapping out, i had that fixed and both motors replaced, but my windows still arnt as fast as they should be. and as for the rattling, i had my windows "tightened" which seemed to help for about 5 minutes and then they went back to rattling.

I have'nt pulled anything off the doors or checked for wires yet... (too busy) but the other day I had the Tops off, and the driverside is still a little faster than the pass, but the passenger side goes all the way up maybe a second later than the driver...Tops on the passenger side moves up a little slower, and it has to have assistance to close off the last inch or so....

Wierd or what?

Having the tops on or off should NOT have anything to do with window speed. That is a very strange coincidence! I'm glad you have written in because you are making me think about my passanger window. It goes up a good 10 seconds slower than the driver's. It never craps out or need assistance, though, so I haven't done anything about it. Just a little annoying to sit and wait until that thing finally goes all the way up.
