Default Block leaking... what would you do?

So my car went in for a tune/suspension/and a fix for the rear main, the idle, and part throttle tune was completed, but when they got back from the street tune with the car it was still leaking oil, after getting it on the lift and searching for 20 mins of where the oil is coming from, up above the oil filter the block is leaking, there is not crack, its coming through the pores, we read an article from one of the engineers who designed the ls1 and they stated that in the early ls1's, mostly 97's the block was cast thin in certain areas and there was a possiblity of oil seeping through the pours, some 98's had it but few made production, mine i guess is one of the few, most guys w/the problem leave it, but since i have the ls6 ported pump its pumping more volume and making the problem more severe, now this has been going on for about 6 months now, they advise me not to drive the car and that the block must be replaced, the problem is with school etc. i do not have that kind of money, the tune was my last step with the car until i graduate college, and now i have a major setback, are there any alternatives, sealants or anything that i cna do short of replacing the block? waht would you guys do?

If it is leaking due to porosity in the casting, and it's a know defect, I'd be looking around for the class action lawsuit (look on some vette forums)
For the more immediate problem, try some JB weld (or similar product), you want to plug up the porosity, clean the area with alcohol, and apply the JB Weld, let it setup, and drive the car, it may help, but if it doesn't you haven't lost anything

Yea, we used a mirror and flashlight up above the oil filter and watched it form from nowhere

What do i need to look for as far as the lawsuit? Since its right above the oil filter, would it be best to take the filter out to get to it?

EDIT: I've sent an email to GM with the concern, and i will call them tomorrow, what else should i do as far as trying to get it worked out with GM?

Since the problem has been admitted to in 97, I'd be looking on some Corvette forums, as they were the ones who got the LS1 in 97.
As for what to do with GM, if you have your manual it'll list the district office, I'd give them a call, and get a copy of the article, where GM admitted there was a problem.
This may all be in vain, as GM seems loath to try and help even if the problem originated at the factory
Good luck on getting it resolved
