Fuel Filter / Pump Problem?
If the RPM's hit 2K or higher, the engine bogs down / stalls / stutters / whatever you want to call it. If you keep it under 2K, it runs fine up to at least 65 mph with occasional slight vibrations around 1800 RPMs. My fuel pump, as many others, always whines really loud. It continues to whine when the engine stutters and will occasionally change pitch.
I called my mechanic and he said that it could be caused by a clogged fuel filter and suggested changing it before messing with the fuel pump. (They had tested the fuel pump 2 weeks ago when I had A/C work done and it was fine.) They wanted $40 parts and labor. So I went to AutoZone and got a fuel filter for $6.99 and plan to put it in first thing in the morning.
Finally, here's my question:
Have any of you experienced the above problem and was it caused by a clogged / old fuel filter?
Yes, there is plenty gas left in the tank.
