something broken in the rear

Default something broken in the rear

the other day i noticed a clunkin coming near the rear end... it only makes the noise when i give it a decent amount of gas... it feels that the rear end is moving back and fourth..and it makes a clunk...but if i dont get on it , it drives normal .. not sure... my car is a 99 A4 and yes i do have a heavy foot ... any ideas wat could be broken ?? thanx

How does it behave when you hit a bump or a dip? On hard turns? If the rear is moving back and forth, it could be that a bolt came out of one end of your panhard rod. I would check it and make sure it is connected and not cracked or broken anywhere. Also while you're there, check the rear swaybar. Make sure the bushings are in good condition and not loose and check the endlinks to make sure they are still in one piece and not missing any bolts or nuts.
