Default Car wont start

I haven't driven my firebird for about a week and a half. I go to drive it and it won't start. I was thinking the battery died, no juce to even have the starter motor work (I just have a crappy Wal-Mart brand battery). Im charging it and i try to start my car, but it just wont catch. I let it charge longer and longer and it is the same problem. I walk away from it and a couple hours later I try to start it, now its just like what it was before all of the charging, no juce to even engage the starter motor.

Im now thinking that the alternator is bad, because of the drain on the battery, but i dont think that explains the fully charged battery not working.

Any answers?

did you get the battery load tested? it may look okay w/ a voltmeter, but when loaded down by the car it may crap out.

Yeah, have it load tested - my Diehard gold crapped out a few days ago, showed 11.9V and all I got was click click click click. When my OEM Delco quit it wouldn't even unlock the doors. I finally broke down and bought an Optima.

What is exactally load testing? I know that my battery has 650 cold cranking amps, which is pretty small knowing that my brothers 89 camaro's battery has 850.(Any relation?) Also could there be a short? somthing draning the battery? Here is another post from me, im pretty sure that these two problems are related.

To load test it they put it on a machine - most auto parts stores will do it for free. 650 CCA should be fine if the battery is good, LS1's are supposed to have 690, my new Optima has 720. I'd start with the battery first. Don't know what could be installed to the right of your gas pedal - aftermarket for sure. If the battery checks out OK try disconnecting it and see what happens.

well I bought a new battery with 690 cold cranking amps and 825 running. If this battery goes dead in a day or so then I will know there is somthing else draning the battery, possibly a short or somthing.
